Hmmmm, just looking at that (which I like) I think I’ve struck upon why I don’t like SUVs and CUVs, but I do like lifted saloons and sports cars (including things like the AMC Eagle).
It’s the height of the bodyshell.
On SUVs and CUVs the bodyshell is enormous, which makes them look fat, huge and like they have poor ground clearance.
Lifted saloons and sports cars do the same thing, but their bodies look much more lithe, more streamlined, more purposeful. It’s just better.

Your exactly right. Even pickup trucks now are so slab sided it sin’t even funny. Especially Chevy. Forget the hieght of the door, for the bottom, wo the window sill, look at that front bumper, it’s at least two feet tall, when you include the ugly plastic air dam.

Think Rally Fighter. While it’s not the most inspired design, it looks great due to a coupé type body sitting high on big wheels with plenty of travel. The other thing I can’t get away from is the smallification of wheels, especially on American pickups and CUV’s. The proportions are just all wrong.

Ugh, that is horrible. If you just cut the bottom 1.5 feet off the body it’d look so much better.
